For the first time, Greeks came together virtually from around the world to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of October 28, 1940, the historic OXI of Hellenism. The main speaker of this unique event will be Professor Manos Papadakis from the University of Houston who will speak briefly about "The timelessness OXI of Hellenism" while Greek men and women from all parts of the world will send their greetings. During the program, the famous Greek musician David Nahmias will accompany Thano Polydora, Christina Samara, Maria Kanellopoulou, and Rena Strouliou from ERT Studios in Athens on the piano, who will primarily perform songs of Sophia Vembo most of them in their original lyrics that were sung during the war.
The event is being organized by the Hellenic Cultural Center of the Southwest (HCC-SW.ORG), Founder of the World Hellenic Diaspora, the General Secretariat for Public Diplomacy, and Greeks Abroad from the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ERT World. 24 Hellenic organizations from around the world participated in this celebration! (The event was originally broadcast on October 28, 2019).
