SYMPOSIUM - Kazantzakis: His Life and Works

Featuring speakers: Professor Darren J.N. Middleton (Texas Christian University), Poet & Scholar Demosthenes Agrafiotis (NSPH University of Athens) and Mr. Vasilis Aivaliotis (University of the Incarnate World)

This symposium on the famous Greek author, Nikos Kazantzakis, will will iclude a film developed by the Kazantzakis Museum in Heraklion, Crete. Mr. Aivaliotis will present a biography and bibliography of the author. Prof. Middleton, a pre-eminent authority on Kazantzakis, will then speak about the spirituality of the author.  Demosthenes Agrafiotis will speak about the author's experiences in China and Japan.
Refreshments will be served.
The event is open to the Public , but seating is limited. There is no charge to attend.
This Symposium is a joint effort by The Consulate of Greece, The Cretans of Houston, The Hellenic Professional Society of Texas, Rice University, the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum and The Hellenic Cultural Center of the Southwest.


Dance Concert

A multi-ethnic dance presentation by dance groups from the Houston Metropolitan Area. Performed in the large theater with ample seating. Reception to follow in the adjoining hall after the performances. Stay tuned for more info and details to follow.
